Jagiellonian
University of Krakow first in Europe to officially incorporate EChemTest in its Bachelor
curriculum
Marek Frankowicz,
Krakow PL (E.U.) - October 14, 2007 :
Following the resolution of the Faculty of
Chemistry Council from 27 September 2007, EChemTest has been included into the
1st cycle chemistry curriculum at the Jagiellonian University. Within the first
cycle studies, students are obliged to pass two tests in English, chosen from
available Bachelor-level EChemTest modules. The main goal of the new course unit
EChemTest - Self-Study, with 5 ECTS credits, is to improve both subject
knowledge and language competences of Jagiellonian University chemistry
graduates.

Lilian Mammino, Venda ZA (Africa) -
August 30, 2007 :
"Chimica Aperta" is a new book of chemistry written in Italian by Liliana
Mammino, Italian background and working at the University of Venda in South
Africa. What can be drawn from this book is the systematic utilization of
imagery as a tool of explanation. Also on an another hand we can emphasize on
the following points such as a special care to explain all the details without
taking any for granted, the attention to rigour in the mode of expression, the
attention to interdisciplinarity and to everyday life, and the presence of
history points.
