Testing centres:
I had the great pleasure to
officially launch the Testing Centre at the Jagiellonian
University of Krakow on June 18th 2007 during the first ICT 2007
symposium. Prof. Artur Michalak will be in charge of the
supervision. It has been decided to translate into Polish the
main information pages on echemtest.net - will be soon
available online.
The university of Reading has now
started his activity (first trial tests with classrooms ran end
of April and in May 2007)
The EChemTest committee approved
the use of the full database not only in the EChemTest Testing
Centres, but also during all events organized by ECTN/ECTNA, or
on behalf of its approval.
Received from:
Paul Yates,
Keele UK (EU), June 22, 2007
This ran from 12th to 16th June, once again in
Malta, and was attended by 30 staff from Austria, Bulgaria, the
Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland,
Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. Participants attended
interactive workshops on a range of topics which included pedagogy,
e-learning, assessment and group work. A "survival guide for new
lecturers" was also provided by Annamaria Lilienkampf and
Constantinos Athanassopoulos, who had both been delegates at the
first summer school. Delegates also took advantage of the networking
opportunities in the time between workshops. They are currently
writing a set of proceedings which will be available in due course.

The 12th Asian Chemical
Congress (12th ACC)
- Kuala Lumpur, August 23-25, 2007
As part of the preparation of new ECTN4 Erasmus
Mundus project, ECTNA approched several Asian partners and two
organizations: ACEN(Asian Chemical Education Network), FACS (Federation of Asian Chemical Society).
ECTNA was invited to attend the conference and 2 of our members will
join the 12th ACC to present and promote the

20th ICCE will be held on August 3-8, in Mauritius. The Organising
Committee would like to invite all academicians, science teachers,
and researchers to attend this biennial meeting.
The Organising Committee has adopted the theme “Chemistry in the ICT
Age” in line with the worldwide trend in Science and Technology
development. The program will feature a wide variety of plenary,
invited and contributed lectures, as well as poster sessions.
Participants can submit abstracts either in English or French. This
conference will provide a platform for participants to share and
discuss new ideas, techniques and strategies for involving students
in active learning of Chemistry.
It will also be an opportunity for participants to visit the island
of Mauritius, famous for its sun, sea and sand.
We look forward to welcoming you at this conference which is
sponsored by IUPAC.
There will also be a virtual conference in July 2008 and it will be
